Makati RTC Branch 148 To Trillianes: You Have 10 Days To Give Supplemental Comments

MANILA, Philippines (September 13, 2018) - The Makati Regional Trial Court Branch 148 need to take a long duration to decide if they are going to issue an alias warrant of arrest and hold departure order against Senator Antonio Trillianes IV.

Upon hearing the motion of the Department Of Justice yesterday September 13, Judge Andres Soriano gives Trillianes ten (10) days to give an additional comment or supplemental comments pertaining to the motion of the Department Of Justice.

Attorney Rey Robles, the lawyer of Trillianes explains that they didn’t yet answer the factual issues containing the motion of the DOJ because they believe that the Supreme Court should be the one answering it. But the Supreme Court already made a decision this week that the RTC (Regional Trial Court) where the motion is filed should be the one to answer the factual issues. Including in the factual issues are - did Senator Antonio Trillianes IV really applied for amnesty? Or did he admitted that he is guilty of his offense?

Attorney Robles also says that “the President is the one who stated that their theory has changed on the proclamation. They are telling right now that the amnesty is null and void because it is not the former President Noynoy Aquino who signed and not the issue about the application of amnesty of Trillianes and his admission of guilt. As we can see here, the Senator is being specifically targeted.”

Once Trillianes gives the supplemental comment to DOJ, they will have five days to answer it. After the submission of documents, the court will analyze the issue in order to prepare a resolution in the filed motion of the DOJ.

From Trillianes – “It’s a welcome relief for us because it shows that the motions are flawed. Remember these are very urgent, these are very temporary legal victories because what we want is to deny their motions.”
