Philippines – Inaresto ang isang makata at scriptwriter dahil sa pagkakalat ng
maling impormasyon tungkol sa mga kaso ng coronavirus disease (COVID-19).
Ayon naman
kay Atty. Vincent Isles na abogado ng suspek na si Maria Victoria Beltran,
magsasampa umano ito ng kasong administratibo at criminal charges laban sa mga
taong responsable sa kanyang pag-aresto.
“We’re going
to question this. This is a gross violation of the rights enshrined in the
Constitution,” sabi ni Isles sa Inquirer sa telepono.
Naaresto si
Beltran ng mga pulis nito lamanag Linggo, April 19, ng lagpas 2 a.m sa loob ng
Kukuk’s Nest na pagmamay-ari nitong restaurant sa Barangay Lahug, Cebu City.
Nangyari ang
pag aresto ilang oras matapos pinagbantaan ni Cebu City Mayor Edgardo Labella
na dadalhin ito sa kulungan dahil sa pagkakalat ng kasinungalingan.
Nitong
nakaraang linggo lamang, nag post si Beltran sa kanyang Facebook account na
mahigit 9,000 na umano ang mga taong nahawaan ng COVID-19 sa Sitio Zapatera sa
Barangay Luz, Cebu City.
Sabi naman
ni Labella sa kanyang post sa Facebook na ang sinabing yaon ni Beltran ay fake
news.
Samantala,
sa pahayag ni Isles, sinabi nito na ang kliyente na si Beltran ay walang
intension na magkalat ng takot.
Sinabi pa ni
Isles na ang Department of Health (DOH) umano ang naganunsyo na lahat ng
residente sa Zapatera na aabot sa 9,000 ay ipinagpalagay na kontaminado.
“Her
(Beltran) post should not be not taken literally. I don’t know why Mayor
Labella took it literally. Clearly, the post was not a violation of our laws. I
do not understand why Mayor Labella would like to focus on a petty concern
instead of focusing on the more important issue. That’s a very dangerous
trend,” sabi ni Isles.
“As a fellow
lawyer who knows the laws, he (Labella) should take a second look at the
Facebook post. No matter how you look at the post, there was no intention of
creating confusion and chaos. Instead of using his time to go after those who
have something to say about the pandemic, Mayor Labella should use his time and
resources to focus on how to help the poor and make them survive this crisis.”
