LOOK: Honteveros And Bam Aquino On DepED's History Book

Manila Philippines September 19, 2018 – Senator Risa Honteveros quoted a history book which the texts contain the quality and values of Filipinos under the government of the former President Ferdinand Marcos.

Senator Honetveros viewed the book “MAKABAYAN” as “one-sided” perspective in gender role and history that appears to be used by Valenzuela City public schools.
The Senator also claimed that another book was used in public schools in Bulacan which entitled “Pilipinas: Bansang Papaunlad”. The said book contains the Philippine history of until 1946.

As the anniversary of the proclamation of Martial Law in the Philippines approaches, Bam Aquino, a nephew of the late senator Benigno Aquino Jr. insist that the information for education should not be biased. “Teachers should be given an educational material that has a broad historical perspective” - Bam added.

The textbooks also include a test that determines which are the roles of parents; both mother and father that qualifies as correct answers depends on their house duty and responsibilities.

Honteveros said – “An individual should be able to rely on our education system to equip our students with critical thinking skills and proper information as we are on the age of fake news.”

The education chief Leonor Briones assumed that DepED is the one responsible for producing the proper educational material and to correct all information inaccuracy.

The question is if they are very aware of misinformation, how can they explain such context below that cannot be accepted by “some” Filipinos? Mostly the ones who favored the Marcoses.
